5 Reasons To Visit Niagara Falls Before Winter

adminPlaces to Visit

We can all agree that Niagara Falls is beautiful all year round, but when fall comes around, it truly is a sight to behold. As the landscape gets filled with fall foliage, it brings out the child in all of us. As the air fills with the scent of pumpkin spice, we found five more reasons for visiting Niagara Falls during the autumnal holiday.

Fall Foliage

During fall, the beautiful Niagara Gorge gets filled with shades of orange and red converting the entire region into a photogenic piece of art. You can get an unobstructed view of the scenery from many spots including the turquoise waters in its glam autumn attire. There are plenty of parks and gardens nearby that let you savor these views including the Annual Chrysanthemum Show that we highly recommend you go watch if you happen to go see Niagara Falls during autumn.

Fireworks

Who doesn’t love fireworks? If you are worried about missing your favorite fall outdoor activity then you are in luck. The Falls Fireworks Cruise takes you around some of the hotspots near Niagara region while enjoying an unobstructed view of the fireworks. The Cruise will go on till October 14 and resume in summer again. So grab a friend and your trusty camera and plan your stay accordingly if you want to see some sparks fly while you relax on a cruise. Book your tickets in advance as they tend to sell like hotcakes during this season.

Fall Festivals

The Niagara region is home to many fall festivals including the Niagara Falls Oktoberfest and Annual Wine Festival. These events bring together like-minded people from all over the world to enjoy the local attractions and mingle with some good food and drinks. If you like such gatherings, head to Niagara Falls during the fall season to catch them in live action.

The Ontario Staycation Tax Credit

As of 2021, the government of Ontario introduced the Ontario Staycation Tax Credit, where you can choose to stay anywhere in Ontario and you will be given a 20 percent tax credit discount. This was done in order to encourage Ontarians to explore and learn more about the province, including Niagara Falls.

Fruit Picking & Sampling

Most of us are aware of the famous wineries and camping locations around the Niagara region, however, there are many orchards here too including apple, cherry, peach, and pear. As you drive around the location, you can smell the sweet scent of these fruits filling up the air as soon as fall hits. You can drive to one of these locations with your friends or family and enjoy an afternoon picking apples or enjoy some of the local delicacies made from these fruits. There are even cheeses and wine preserves to be enjoyed if you decide to stay and picnic.

Fall Harvest

The Niagara region has over 100 wineries and September marks the beginning of the harvest. Many people from around the world flock to these locations to enjoy world-class grapes and wines, while others love watching the pressing of grapes. Each winery offers an unique aesthetic and ambiance which you can cherish with family or friends. While the sweet scent of freshly picked grapes never gets old, there is always something new and exciting to catch at these locations such as food and recreational activities.
